Hot and Humid

Blog writing has fallen behind this week since Jenny and Matt's wedding at Minstrel Court in record temperatures and high humidity - probably the most challenging day since I started wedding photography in 2000. Huge thanks to both the Bride and Groom and all their guests for their co-operation and willingness in those conditions! I was more than ably supported by Second Shooter Stephen and protégé Olivia, so huge thanks to them also.

Jenny and Matt are Honeymooning in New York and Mexico, but by the time they return, their wedding album, prints and USB Memory stick will be ready for delivery, and of course, all their photos are now uploaded to their own password protected Gallery on my website to view and share.

Portfolio

My protégé Olivia Stacey will soon be off to University to study Photography, but before leaving she asked for some additional portfolio shots modelling her 'Leavers Dresses' from their 6th Form Party. One of my favourites below has the look of French actress Emmanuelle Beart  from the 80's film, 'Manon des Sources', in which she was the same age as Olivia.

Camera Training

Delighted to have met Penny and her Canon 600D DSLR camera this week. She initially booked an hours training and familiarisation with her camera, but after a few minutes, she extend our session to 2 hours - thank you! I explained the relationship between the Big 3 - Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO Speed - and how different settings and combinations would allow her to be more creative with her photography. We spent some time outside practising, and being gently questioned by some locals as to why we were photographing tree bark and distant cars.

Penny is going to practice some more for the next ten days, after which she has booked another session, where we'll explore some more camera controls using the many opportunities in Cambridge City Centre.

Next week I'll be doing a similar training session with another lady, Diane, whose daughter's wedding we photographed 2 years ago this month. I do like these long term family relationships!

Sarah and Neil Wedding

Looking forward to their Big Day this weekend at The Holiday Inn Cambridge, where coincidentally, they booked our services from our own wedding fair held there in October last year! The forecast is for a much cooler 20 deg C, no rain and the best soft box lighting ever - white cloud - can't wait!
