3rd May

Cambridge Photo Walk

The next Photo Walk is on Saturday 30th May. Spaces are limited, and people are already booking, so contact me now to reserve you space and avoid disappointment.

Cambridge has a wonderful diversity of residents, tourists from all around the world and of course the transient student population. They all mingle and interact with each other, with the street performers, and sit on walls and benches for a sandwich lunch. This is a great opportunity to capture some of these interactions and anticipate upcoming shots in an ever changing scene. There is usually only one chance for most of these types of photos before they’re gone forever.

Listen as I explain some of the history of the area, including some ghostly stories concerning a window that’s never closed, a bookshop and a rose. Discover and photograph a ‘Richardson Candle’. See and photograph the £1 million gold plated clock (and all the people photographing it!) and find out who gifted it to the University.

Learn what used to lay behind the 70s brutal architecture of Petty Cury and the Grand Arcade, and the best camera settings and how to anticipate when shooting on the street.

Shoot the moment amongst the throngs!

London Photo Walk

This was scheduled for Saturday 30th May, but we’ve been advised to re-arrange the date due to the large numbers of people expected to be using the Train and Tube network as this is also the FA cup final day at Wembley. Once I’ve confirmed with the photographer’s availability and my other commitments, I’ll repost the new date : )

Studio Lighting+Model Workshop

I’m facilitating a Studio Lighting+Model day at Lovephoto Studio, Newmarket, Suffolk on Sunday 28th June for a group of 6 photographers (4 spaces already gone). The day will be run by studio owner Vic Chowan, and the first two hours will be spent going through theory and vocabulary of lighting covering, inverse square law, hard, soft and ratios.

He will also demonstrate classic portrait lighting patterns - Rembrandt, Butterfly, Clam-Shell, Loop, Short and Broad lighting.

The last 3 to 4 hours will be spent shooting a model in 4 different styles of lighting and he will explain in each set the theory and light pattern to be used.

New Model Shoot

Looking forward to working with new model Nikki Dine Hart and Make Up Artist (MUA) Rosie Chic on a number of exciting themed shoots over the next few months, both on location and in the studio.
